Hackers:

The real estate industry remains complicated, and regardless of whether you attempt to buy, sell, or rent property using the services of a Realtor® or Agent to help with the process, or whether you choose to go it alone, the threat of wire fraud is very real and is always looming in the background.  It can't be emphasized enough that we strongly recommend the use of a Realtor®, Agent, and an Attorney (preferably both!), but we also know that no matter whether you do or not, the sophistication of hackers continues to expand.  When electronic correspondence begins to discuss deposit amounts and wiring instructions, this is when criminals can hack in to one or all of the e-mail accounts associated with your transaction and then substitute their own wiring instructions to potentially re-route and abscond that deposit.  The difference may be so negligible that it can, and far too often does go unnoticed until it's too late.  We're not in any way suggesting that using a Realtor®, Agent, Attorney, or any combination of them will eliminate this possibility, but rest assured the chances are greatly reduced by doing so because they're so vigilant of this threat.  When we created PropertyGuerilla.com one of our primary goals was to be a real estate website that not only respected your privacy, but to practice what we preach.  Using our site requires NO personal contact information to register, and more importantly, it's also not required to communicate with other users!  The thought process behind our decision is pretty simple: remove the temptation.  If there is little or no information worthy of stealing, they'll simply move on to their next potential target.  All the while you can start the process of searching for your real estate needs, potentially locating them, begin direct and discrete communication about it, interviewing potential Realtors® or Agents, etc., all comfortable in the knowledge that all that can be seen is your screen name.  Your contact information is given direct to whomever you are dealing with, but it's given when and how you say and ONLY after your satisfied through whatever vetting process you employ that doing so is in everyone's best interest.  Real estate is hard, so we're doing everything we can to not make it any harder.  #realestate #wirefraud #wiringinstructions #realtor #agent #buyingrealestate #sellingrealestate #propertyguerilla
